Mobile Legends Patch Breakdown: Major Buffs, Nerfs & Meta Shifts You Need to Know

Updated at: 5/15/2025

update

The latest patch on the original server brings massive changes that could shake up the current meta of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Long-awaited buffs for underutilized heroes like Lapu-Lapu and Yi Sun-shin are finally here, while overpowered and highly banned heroes like Fanny, Granger, and Cecilion have received nerfs. Let’s dive deep into the full patch breakdown and see what’s changing.

Valir Gets a Major Overhaul

Valir's rework might push him back into the spotlight:

Passive Duration reduced by 1 second.
Damage Scaling now significantly increases with items—up to 21% of a target’s max HP with full magic power build.
Skill 1 Flying Speed increased, and now benefits from cooldown reduction.
Skill 2 Enhanced Damage buffed, though the base damage from the ultimate boost is gone.
His skill 1 now resembles a slower version of Lunox’s skill 2, with terrifying spam potential when paired with Temporal Reign.

Verdict: Valir can now melt tanks and chase squishy heroes with ease. Big win for mage mains.

Gusion and Gourd Buffs: New Meta Mages?

Gourd:

Passive can now only be activated by skills (no more basic attack procs).
Skill 1 gets a camera shift and better targeting UI.
Skill 2 casts increased (13 → 16), with a shorter interval between them.
Ultimate’s width increased, and smarter targeting with skill combos.

Verdict: Gourd may finally leave the bench. Visual and mechanical upgrades make him smoother and more viable in ranked.

Novaria: Meta Mage Returning?

Just in time for her Collector skin, Novaria gets a damage buff:

Magic scaling on Skill 2 increased from 45% to 70%.
Ultimate cooldown reduced from 56–48s to 48–40s.

Verdict: Expect to see Novaria back in the midlane with much stronger burst potential.

Yi Sun-shin Revamped for Jungle Impact

New basic attack indicator helps players distinguish between melee and ranged attacks.
Skill 2: No more damage reduction on multiple targets.
Self slow reduced from 20% → 5%.
Backswing reduction makes it faster and more fluid.
Ultimate now calls cannon shots instead of immediate damage. This rework supports teamfights rather than burst pick-offs.

Verdict: A cleaner, team-oriented YSS that's less confusing to use—finally!

Leomord: The Barbell Rides Again

Increased hybrid defense and movement speed while mounted.
Ultimate cooldown reduced by 5 seconds (late game).
However, ultimate duration and initial collision damage have been nerfed.

Verdict: These buffs improve his dive and mobility, giving him better teamfight presence.

Jungle Buffs & Tanky Frontliners

Fredrinn:

Double damage to jungle creeps with Skill 1.
Slight ult cooldown reduction.

Balmond:

Skill 2 now scales with 2% of extra HP, making tank builds even better.

X.Borg:

Armor scaling increased early game: 120% → 160%.
Skill 2 cooldown now a flat 9 seconds across levels.

Verdict: Early-game dominance for tanks. Jungle clears are now smoother for Fredrinn and Balmond.

Gold Lane Marksmen Buffs

Natan:

Passive reworked: Attacks now refresh duration but don’t add stacks.
Base attack reduced slightly.
No more backswing on Skills 1 & 2 = faster gameplay.

Clint:

Enhanced basic attack deals more base damage.
Ultimate cooldown massively reduced, but max charges dropped from 5 → 3.
Increased slow effect to compensate.

Verdict: More viable marksmen options in the gold lane beyond Brody and Beatrix.

Fighters and Supports: Minor Adjustments

Jawhead: Skill 1 cooldown now 5s → 3.5s late game.
Kaja: Passive stacks reduced (8 → 6) and damage reduction per stack lowered. Slight buff to Skill 1 cooldown.

Nerfs to Dominant Heroes

Fanny:

Slight damage nerf, but energy mechanics untouched.
Still dangerous if you're mechanically skilled.

Cecilion:

Skill 1 base and detonation damage decreased. Mage burst slightly toned down.

Granger:

Skill 2 and ultimate mobility nerfed, vision removed.
Oddly, total damage increased, which feels counterintuitive.

Harith:

Skill 2 shield scaling reduced.
Skill 1 projectile now faster but deals less damage.

Kimmy & Blue Rework Incoming

The revamped versions of Kimmy and Blue weren’t included in this breakdown—they’ll be analyzed in a separate update. Stay tuned!

Final Thoughts: Is the Patch Fair?

This update is packed with meaningful balance changes. The buffed mages and marksmen could shake up the current hero pool, while dominant picks like Fanny and Granger were adjusted—but not hard-nerfed.

The big question: Why didn’t they nerf Lancelot or Lapu-Lapu?
